We hold baptism and marriage records for the Parish of Armagh from as early as 1796, and cemetery records from 1888. The records are not digitised and are not accessible to the general public, however, we can do a search for you.
We hold the records for Armagh Parish only, which is one of 61 parishes within the Archdiocese of Armagh.
The four churches in our Parish are: St Patrick’s Cathedral (Armagh City), St Malachy’s Church (Armagh City), St Colmcille’s Church (townland of Knockaconey) and Church of the Immaculate Conception (townland of Tullysaran)
We do not hold records for any other Parish, town or area in County Armagh.
Baptism records tell us the person’s date of baptism, their parents names, their address, the name of the priest and their godparent(s) name(s).
Marriage records tell us the date of marriage, father’s name (early records)/parent’s names, where they lived at the time of their marriage, what priest officiated and in later records, who witnessed the marriage.
Death records tell us the date of death, the date of burial and the person’s address at the time of their death.
In order to locate a record for you, we need the person’s name and their date of birth, date of marriage or date of death. If you cannot provide a specific date, a period of time is acceptable e.g. 1910-1920.
To help us confirm whether your request relates to this parish, we would appreciate any additional details you can provide—for example, street names, townlands associated with the person, or the name of the church where the sacrament took place.
You can email your request to armaghparishoffice@gmail.com. Please allow 14 working days for your request to be processed.
